From June 12 to 14, 2025, a workshop on constructing a hemp house was held in Zlatar Bistrica, organized and led by Ervin Šilić, founder of Kanaba, who brings extensive experience in hemp-based construction.
Around ten participants gained hands-on experience over three days using the wet construction method with hempcrete. They learned how to prepare the mixture, set up formwork, and pour and compact hempcrete within a wooden framework. During the workshop, a significant portion of the house wall was successfully built.
Meals were provided for all participants, and the working environment was both pleasant and motivating. The workshop was a success, demonstrating that hemp construction — when guided by skilled leadership and proper organization — can be a high-quality, practical, and enriching collaborative experience.
